Events are held regularly in the Hall, arranged both by village organisations and by the Hall Committee.
In August 2017 we replaced the old storage heaters with more efficient wall mounted heaters, thanks to a grant of £6,253 from Churngold Environmental Fund. At the same time the Parish Council, who are ultimately responsible for the building, agreed £3,215 to part fund safety work on the hall electrics. This released funds from our reserves, which enabled us to redecorate the main Hall & stage, as well as sand & varnish the same areas.
In 2015 the toilets were refurbished to a high standard, so as to improve the hall facilities. This work was funded mainly by a substantial anonymous donation from within the village.
In autumn 2013 we carried out renovation of the flat roof at the front of the hall, replacing the felt with modern GRP roofing. This completed a program of external improvements to the building over the last few years, which have included repainting the walls, new windows, roof renovation and insulation.
The renovation was funded by a grant from the National Lottery BIG LOTTERY FUND "Awards for All" programme and a discretionary grant from our local councillor in support of the community.
We have received a grant of £1000 from the
Co-operative
membership community fund towards the insulation of the roof loft space
and the cavity walls, so as to improve the Hall energy
efficiency. .
The work was carried out in the spring of 2012.
